Australia's AusVaxSafety Surveillance System Uses Carefully Solicited Questions to Craft the Safe and Effective Narrative. Only Partial Data is Released to the Public.

Data from this system, costing Australian Taxpayers A$10.1 million, has been only selectively released and reporting ended early. Sharing the report prepared by Michelle Stubbs, with her permission.

I have copied Michelle’s report almost verbatim, except for my addition of headings, some links and informational images, and formatting to suit this platform. I watch Michelle’s work closely and share from time to time, as it is too valuable to be lost, and FB is not a secure platform for saving data / reports. Michelle: I’m not kidding when I say that some of the following information has taken me years to gather because governments and government funded agencies are not transparent.

AusVaxSafety Vaccination Safety Surveillance System

Australia has two vaccination surveillance mechanisms. These are the passive TGA (Therapeutic Goods Agency) system and the AusVaxSafety system. The AusVaxSafety system is considered an active surveillance program, whereas the TGAs system is passive.

Normally the AusVaxSafety program involves a safety check text being sent to select vaccine recipients on day 3 post shot to survey for problems – it’s a stop gap measure to try and prevent another Saba Button¹, but that’s another story.

[Sally: The use of a text message makes this system only relevant to persons who have cell phones and are technically competent in using them. Some elderly and other people would not be able to answer a cell phone questionnaire. Persons who are too ill, otherwise incapacitated, or dead, also cannot provide response. Thus, the very nature of this system may cause it to miss severe reactions].

The NCIRS (National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance) was funded by the DoH to conduct the AusVaxSafety surveillance system for the Covid-19 shots. The AusVaxSafety Covid-19 vaccine safety surveillance involved additional safety checks compared to other vaccines. Three in total; at day 3, day 8 and day 42 post shot. The awarded contract period runs from 23 December 2020 to 30 June 2023 and it cost taxpayers $10.1 million.

6,611,017 Day 3 Reports Up to 6th February 2023

By 6th February 2023 AusVaxSafety had received 6,611,017 day 3 survey results from Covid-19 shot recipients. They stopped updating the day 3 data on their website after 6th February 2023, despite the contract period running until the 30th June 2023.

In their 9th February 2023 report, the TGA state that of the 5th February 2023 64,680,108 covid shots had been administered. Please note that the reports of AEFI screenshot below are those from the TGA.

This crosschecking for vaccine doses against reports received indicates that the AusVaxSafety’s active surveillance captured feedback from just over 10% of total covid dose recipients. This doesn’t stop AusVaxSafety from touting their active program as world leading, when in reality it appears only slightly more effective than the TGAs passive system, if at all.

AusVaxSafety have released very limited data on covid shot recipients aged 5 – 11 and no data whatsoever on Covid-19 shot recipients aged 4 and under.

Note that Moderna was approved for children 6 months to 5 years old in July of 2022.

Pfizer was approved for the same age-group in September 2022.

The 3 safety checks at day 3, day 8 and day 42...

All of the Covid-19 shot data on the AusVaxSafety website is from the day 3 safety check. You would not have seen me share much info from AusVaxSafety because it’s about as useful as the TGAs Covid19 Vaccine Safety Reports. It’s a very polished view of very limited data, perfect for mass public consumption. Like the TGA, AusVaxSafety share the most commonly reported adverse events, yes we all know what they are, but there is no mention at all of serious reports or reports of death in the active data, which is surprising considering there has been an unprecedented number of these.

In relation to the day 8 safety check some mention can be found in the following paper. Not surprisingly the study “affirms the short-term safety profile of Comirnaty and Vaxzevria vaccines in a large population sample during the first six months of the Australian COVID-19 vaccination program.”

Government report published in August 2022 based on the AusVaxSafety Data, summarized that vaccines were safe and effective.

Completely ignored were the cases of Thrombosis-Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (TTS) that were officially acknowledged as a potential risk from the AstraZeneca Products by June 2021!

None of the day 42 safety check, the data set I am most interested in, has been made public at all. Further, one of my helpers engaged the DoH over many weeks trying to secure a response as to why the day 8 and day 42 data is not available to the public and the DoH would not be drawn on this, even after a complaint was lodged about their refusal to answer this question.

AusVaxSafety Survey Questions

The information that has taken me years to source is the AusVaxSafety survey questions sent to participating covid shot recipients. You would think I was trying to access ASIO secrets! Since the Covid-19 shot rollout began I have asked the NCIRS, AusVaxSafety and the DoH to be provided with the survey questions and they all ignored this request. In the end I found the survey questions in the appendix of the paper screenshotted above that incorporates some of the day 8 data. It is important to note that the survey questions I located are for the day 3 and day 8 safety checks, there are different survey questions for the day 42 safety check and they remain unknown to the public.

How appropriate is it that taxpayers gave AusVaxSafety more than $10M to conduct covid shot safety surveillance, and yet it doesn’t allow access to the majority of the data?

In a broad sense this hidden data reflects why so many Australians believe the vaccines to be safe and effective: any information that detracts from this mantra is usually hidden from the public. The next time you hear an ‘expert’ claim that there is transparency around vaccines, particularly safety surveillance, remember this article.

1. Saba Button is a Western Australian child left severely disabled, suffering brain and organ damage after getting the Fluvax shot when she was 11 months old in 2010. Hundreds of other children also suffered adverse reactions after receiving the same shot, with many of them hospitalized.
