Special Week of Vaccination Failed. Tyranny In Philippines: Iligan Mayor Makes Boosters Compulsory.
As the rest of the world releases covid-19 measures and moves away from forced injections, Philippines moves the other way in a bid to use up millions of untouched Covid-19 Injectables.
The special week of vaccination held from 26 September to 1st October 2022 failed to meet targets by far! This ABSCBN tracker shows that of the 245 million doses that had arrived as of 27 June 2022 only 195 million had been distributed as of 6 June 2022, and only 166 million doses had been administered as of 2 October 2022. Nearly 80 million doses sitting, expiring. I guess expired vaccines really can only have their validity extended so many times before they finally expire for good!
Filipinos don’t want these jabs!
Department of Health OIC Vergeire is calling for incentivization of vaccine delivery. She has targeted (vainly for sure) to bring booster vaccine uptake up to 30%, another 3.6 million doses in the next 2 days to meet the target set in the first 100 days of the Marcos Presidency!
Perhaps in response to Vergeire’s call for incentivization, or perhaps simply in willful blindness of the mood of his constituents, the Mayor of Iligan City has made proof of booster vaccine doses a requirement for participation in public life.
Where the rest of the world is loosening up, the Philippines is still trying to buckle down hard!
Tourism used to be a major earner for the Philippines contributing more than 12% of GDP. This all went under the bus with Covid-19 and in 2021 it was seen as contributing around 5%. With the current restrictions and ongoing testing and tracking requirements, this country is not an attractive destination for anyone who absolutely does need to visit. The target of returning to prepandemic tourism levels by 2024 will not be met if more concrete action is not taken.
But this article ends by emphasizing vaccines, boosters, minimum health standards (track and trace and social distancing) and covid measures. Hardly warm and welcoming!
Perhaps it is time for government and authorities to look at what is happening worldwide; to loosen up, to relax all covid-19 and pandemic measure and restrictions, to give up on the insane targets of injecting every single person multiple times!
Lest the Philippines gets left even further behind.
I came back to Australia after spending the majority of the last 5 years in the Philippines with my lady friend. I thought I would be able to go back after receiving medical treatment here, but the closed border have kept me here in Australia for over 12 month now. That's 12 months of money that I have not spent in our local community. Even though I do support my lady friend it i nothing compared to the money I spend when I am there and we are going shopping, restauranting, etc. I am only one, how many others?
Say no! Enough is enough!
