China must have been complicit in this global programme. We know that all states were. I wonder whether Taiwan was specifically targeted for political reasons to keep the Chinese onside with this depopulation policy? Even with the long term fertility trends the loss since 2020 is shocking.

From other reports it shows our population was already set to decline b4 the convidian nightmare. W all those deeths and miscarriages and infertility and our younger generation have so many not wanting to have children. It was already falling..
There are occassional news articles about falling births. I havent seen anyone else talking about this in detail. My colleague in Hong Kong says China has removed all media materials promoting small families, antifamily, anti male-female relationship.. no country has yet succeeded in reversing falling population trends... we have had generations of antifamily messaging and propaganda, individualism, career first, family last and late... if at all... systems are not family friendly, children are portrayed as sacrificing at a materially successful life..
You are right. The very competitive, aggressive, and growth oriented economy that exists globally is inimical to a healthy family life. Without changing our economic structure we cannot create a positive family and child centred culture. Yet we appear to be intensifying our commitment to extreme late stage capitalism.
