Masks are not just a magical talisman; they are far more damaging. They cannot prevent Covid-19; they actively harm wearers and society and are the symbol of our acceptance of the Pandemic Oppression.

Mid-week updates from the Philippines. With the issue of EO No. 7 last 28 October 2022, you may be thinking that people would have joyfully ditched their masks.

DOLE (Department of Labor and Employment) has confirmed voluntary masking, though it also notes that companies can set their own policies on masking.

DepEd has said masking in school will be optional. This has retriggered fears of Covid-19 for many parents, teachers, and opinionated bystanders.

There is a new storm of discussion on whether children in school should be masked or not. Some schools are sending out questionnaires to get parent opinions to help decide on whether they will continue masking kids and staff.

An article in Businessworld today calls for the continued masking of children. Faith in masking as a proven safeguard against coronavirus continues to be publicly touted.

As reported in Manila Bulletin Senator and Lawmaker Risa Hontiveros on Thursday, November 3, said school authorities should be allowed to decide whether or not they should let the wearing of face mask in schools voluntary. She stated “There is nothing to lose if children wear masks in school” and reminded the public that wearing a facemask, getting vaccinated or getting a booster is a proven method to avoid serious COVID-19 infection and hospitalization.

Her perspective and opinion, though flying in the face of long known facts and evidence of harm most particularly to children, is widely accepted in Philippines. In the past week, I have observed that most people in Manila have continued to wear masks in all settings; indoors and outdoors, in work, in leisure, alone at 5:30 am exercising, and in public.

Perhaps DepEd Secretary Vice President Duterte should step in on this matter with a clear direction for all schools! It should be based on what is best for student’s learning, not based on fear! Healthy children never were and still aren’t at risk from C19 infection! I am speaking to the converted!

Faith in Masks is Misplaced

Why are we still talking about masks after nearly 2 3/4 years? How has it been so long, already? There is plenty of evidence of harm! Great article and links here.

More here about their effect on children. The insanity of being prepared to continue masking children even when adults don’t need to wear them. Are we teaching the children literally to be seen, no heard, not to speak, nor to communicate! Masks do harm children’s development and ability to learn! Schools should be the very last place with masks!

The mask as a magical talisman

Suspend your belief in masking for just a few seconds of logic. A virus is magnitudes smaller than dust particles, and sails readily through the pores of most masks on human breath! Masks that are worn for long periods of time collect debris and micro-organisms to enhance infections of all kinds. Oral hygiene is affected. Masks prevent seeing of mouth and facial expressions, hindering normal social interactions, preventing human connection. Keeping us separate. Keeping us isolated. Reminding us to stay scared.

Those who do not want to see simply will not!

The mask has become a powerful magical talisman!

A barrier to hide behind, literally and figuratively offering addictive, luring anonymity!

A branch to hold onto amongst the sea of Covid-19 (and other invisible baddies) lurking in every air molecule, ready to pounce at any time.

Thou shalt not give up the mask, lest the fear and paranoia and blind unquestioning obedience is given up as well.

Thou shalt not give up the mask lest human connection shall once again become required and the norm!

People have learned the imposed lesson far too well. They look at me and the few other unmasked souls whose eyes I catch in mutual acknowledgement as I pass by smiling widely! They look shocked. Are they fearful or are they jealous of those who were not cowed, who dare to stand out, who do not accept the Covid Pandemic Oppression! Be brave!
