40,800 excess deaths in Australia in the past year. That is an unexpected loss of 0.16% of the population in a single year, with loss trending heading upwards. Deaths are just the tip of the iceberg. A huge burden of disability will unlie the deaths.

I hope this spike in excess deaths will not continue to move upward off the top of the graph. But I think that we have just bumped into an ice berg that appears to be the size of a house, when beneath the waves, it is actually the size of a Sky Scraper. God help us...
