Wow, I'd never expected you to touch on this topic!

The late Philippine actress-activist, June Keithley, was a huge proponent of the supernatural nature of these Lipa events. A book a devout friend from there written by Keithley sent to me:

There have been Marian apparitions in the past that were also initially suppressed and disbelieved by the hierarchy - who are also composed of sinners, same as is the rest of the Church members. It certainly is an unusual case in its strangely contradictory judgments by various Church authorities.

No Catholic is obligated to believe in any of these revelations, however. The Catechism is all that practising Catholics are obligated to believe and put into practice. (Being the sinners that we are, some are "cafeteria Catholics" who pick and choose what they want to believe and follow.)
