WHO/UNICEF Say 1-million Filipino Children Have Received No Routine Immunization Over the Pandemic Years. But Both 2020 and 2021 had lower than Usual Deaths for Children 0 - 11.

The Philippines is reported by UNICEF to have a million ‘0 dose’ children. The articles cite the importance of full vaccination early in life to enable children to reach their full potential. UNICEF also lamented greatly reduced trust in vaccination over the Covid-19 pandemic years.

The big drop in pediatric uptake vaccination uptake in the Philippines was linked to vaccine safety concerns as a key issue.

The “Big Catch Up” Vaccination Drive

The DOH in partnership with WHO and UNICEF has a pediatric vaccination drive planned for May 2023. The programme will be brought directly to local communities and will aim to vaccinate 9.5 million children aged 9 - 59 months with MMR and 11 million aged 0 to 59 months with polio. Vitamin A supplementation will also be provided.

Registered Deaths Data Supports Better Outcomes for Children Aged 0- - 11 During 2020 and 2021

A breakdown of deaths by age-group from 2015 to 2021 is available from PSA. It may be observed that excess deaths in 2021 soared, compared to prior years, particularly in older age cohorts. There has yet to be any response or explanation for these excess deaths provided by local health authorities.

Countering the WHO/ UNICEF claims that children are threatened by lack of vaccination, the breakdown of pediatric deaths though showed that children aged 0 - 5 had considerably better death outcomes than 2019, pre-pandemic levels.

A further breakdown of the deaths for ages 0 - 19, categorized as children in the Philippines shows that all children had much better health outcomes in 2020 (10,038 fewer deaths compared to 2019), as shown by fewer deaths, but that only children aged 0 - 9 had better outcomes (4,583 fewer deaths compared to 2019) in 2021. 1,632 more children aged 10 - 19 died in 2021 than in 2019.

Covid-19 vaccination of children aged 5 - 11 only started on 7 February 2022. The deaths outcomes charted below did not receive Covid-19 vaccination and many likely did not receive routine immunizations; very limited movement and access to medical care of any kind during lockdowns which started in March 2020 and extended into 2022. Could lack of access to medical care, lack of immunizations contributed to these far better outcomes?

4,838 fewer children aged under 1 died in 2020 compared to 2019. 3,116 fewer babies died in 2021 compared to 2019. Nearly 8,000 parents whose babies did not die, babies who DID NOT DIE WHEN THEY DID NOT RECEIVE ROUTINE MEDICAL CARE / WELL CHILD VISITS! This is despite some babies / children dying, no doubt, because they couldn’t receive emergency care!

2,868 fewer children aged 1-4 died in 2020 compared to 2019. 907 fewer young children died in 2021 compared to 2019. Nearly 3,800 young children who DID NOT DIE WHEN THEY DID NOT RECEIVE ROUTINE MEDICAL CARE / WELL CHILD VISITS!

1,540 fewer children aged 5-9 died in 2020 compared to 2019, 560 fewer than in 2019.

Children aged 12 - 17 were included in Covid-19 vaccination starting on 15 October 2021. These groups all had reduced deaths in 2020, but considerably increased deaths, with the % increases well above prior levels in 2021.

553 fewer young adolescents died in 2020 compared to 2019. However, 691 more died in 2021 compared to 2019.

790 fewer adolescents died in 2020 compared to 2019. However, 941 more died in 2021 compared to 2019.

Answers are needed! An inquiry is needed! These are the deaths of our children, our future! They were not expected to die! Particularly they are not expected to die from medical misadventures arising from what are supposed to preventative health-care measures.
